Scott S. Ross was selected as the new Deputy Power Manager at Grand Coulee Dam to provide additional leadership for numerous projects over the next decade, announced Grand Coulee Dam Power Manager David Murillo.

His new emphasis will be upon project management, planning, and engineering. He came to Grand Coulee in December 2008 as the project manager for the Third Powerplant Overhaul Project. He will continue to provide oversight for the overhaul until his replacement is hired.

"I'm honored and excited to work at Grand Coulee because I believe this is a great outfit with quality people," Ross said. "I'm especially looking forward to helping Grand Coulee succeed at running more efficiently."

He graduated from the University of Idaho as a mechanical engineer, and he is a licensed professional engineer and a professional project manager. He worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District for 22 years before coming to Grand Coulee Dam.

"Scott has the unique experiences and skills needed to be successful in this new position," Murillo said.

Ross, and his wife Annette, have three children in college. The couple plans to build a home near Electric City. When he's not on the job, he enjoys the outdoors and working with wood and steel.

Grand Coulee Dam is located on the Columbia River about 90 miles west of Spokane, Wash. It was completed by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1942, and is a multipurpose facility providing water for irrigation, hydroelectric power production, flood control, recreation, fish, and wildlife.
