Media Contact: Jeffrey McCracken, 916-978-5100, jmccracken@mp.usbr.gov

For Release: November 30, 2004

The Bureau of Reclamation will begin installation of new security barriers on the earth embankment dikes and dams at Folsom Lake, beginning with Mormon Island Auxiliary Dam (MIAD).

A contractor will begin work on MIAD on the morning of December 1, 2004, and the construction will continue through December 8, 2004. The construction process will involve excavating material on the crest of the dam's embankment. To provide for public safety, the trail across the crest of MIAD will be closed during the construction period.

Once the new barriers are installed Reclamation will remove the temporary concrete barriers.
