Draft EA/FONSI Released on Central Valley Project Water Transfer from the East Side to the West Side of the Central Valley

The Bureau of Reclamation has made available for public review and comment a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for transferring Central Valley Project water from the east side to the west side of California's Central Valley.

The proposed water transfers are as follows: Fresno Irrigation District (FID) to San Luis Water District (SLWD) for up to 6,250 acre-feet; FID to Westlands Water District (WWD) for up to 3,750 acre-feet; FID to WWD for up to another 3,750 acre-feet; and Orange Cove Irrigation District to SLWD for up to 5,000 acre-feet. The transferred water would be delivered through Kern County Water Agency's facilities.

The Draft EA and FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, and are available online at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=4399.
