Reclamation and DWR Announce Preparation of EIS/EIR for B.F. Sisk Dam Corrective Action Project; Scoping Meeting Scheduled

The Bureau of Reclamation, the lead Federal agency, and the California Department of Water Resources (DWR), the lead State agency, are beginning preparation of a joint Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report (EIS/EIR), pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act and the California Environmental Quality Act, respectively, for the B.F. Sisk Dam Corrective Action Project (Project).  The B.F. Sisk Dam, also known as San Luis Dam, is located in Merced County, California.

The ongoing Corrective Action Study (CAS) addresses potential public safety issues related to the stability of the structure under extreme seismic loading conditions.  The CAS involves engineering and economic analyses and evaluations by Reclamation and DWR to determine potential corrective actions.  The EIS/EIR will provide environmental information to help form the decisions on the corrective actions to be taken. 

A scoping meeting and open house are scheduled to receive verbal and written comments:
