For Release: August 27, 2009

The Bureau of Reclamation has released for public review and comment the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) on the long-term transfer of Central Valley Project (CVP) water from the Anderson-Cottonwood Irrigation District to the Bella Vista Water District. The Draft EA proposes transfer of up to 1,536 acre-feet of water per year from April 1, 2010, through October 31, 2044.

The Draft EA analyzes the impacts of transferring this CVP water between April 1 and October 31 each year. The action would shift the point of diversion about 2 miles downstream. This transfer is aimed at increasing the reliability of water supply for Bella Vista Water Districts urban areas along the eastern edge of the city of Redding, California.

The Draft EA was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and is available for a 30-day public review. The document may be viewed at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=4302. If you encounter problems accessing the document online, please call Ms. Lynnette Wirth at 916-978-5102 (TDD 916-978-5608) or e-mail lwirth@usbr.gov.
