The Bureau of Reclamation has awarded a $1 million contract to replace eight large air compressors in the Third Power Plant at Grand Coulee Dam in eastern Washington. Burke Electric of Bellevue, Washington, was awarded the contract on November 15, 2004.

Burke will remove the existing compressors and furnish and install new compressors along with associated piping and controls. The work is expected to be completed by October 2005.

Grand Coulee Dam is located on the Columbia River and serves as the centerpiece of Reclamation's Columbia Basin Project, where it provides water for irrigating more than 600,000 acres of land and is North America's largest hydroelectric facility.
