Hungry Horse Dam Visitor Center Closes for Season

The Bureau of Reclamation will close the Hungry Horse Visitor Center for the season on August 24. The top of the dam will remain open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic through the fall.

The Visitor Center is open 7 days a week from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. through Sunday, August 23.

Hungry Horse dam is located off Highway 2 in Hungry Horse, Mont. Turn right up the hill past the Hungry Horse/Glacier View Forest Service building and travel approximately 4 ½ miles to the Visitor Center located at the North end of the dam's crest.

Parking is allowed only in designated areas and not on top of the dam roadway.

Hungry Horse Dam stands 564 feet tall and was completed in 1953. It is located on the south fork of the Flathead River, 15 miles south of the west entrance to Glacier National Park and 20 miles northeast of Kalispell, Mont.
