Salt Lake City, UT - The Bureau of Reclamation announced today that the Adaptive Management Work Group (AMWG) will meet August 12-13, 2009 in Tempe, Ariz., to address topics related to the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program. The AMWG committee provides a forum for discussion of topics related to the operation of Glen Canyon Dam and ongoing monitoring of resource conditions downstream of the dam.

At the meeting, the AMWG will receive a variety of updates and briefings, including: a Tribal liaison update; a near-shore ecology update; 2009 non-native fish mechanical removal status report; a 2008 High Flow Experiment report and planning schedule; an update on the Humpback Chub comprehensive plan; update on cultural resources monitoring; a FY 2010-11 budget, work plan and hydrograph discussion; a stakeholder's perspective from Arizona Game and Fish; and a 2007 and 2008 Biological Opinion Conservation Measures update.

The AMWG is a Federal Advisory Committee appointed by the Secretary of the Interior with representatives from federal agencies, Colorado River Basin states, Native American tribal governments, environmental groups, recreation interests and contractors for federal power from Glen Canyon Dam. The AMWG makes it possible for the Secretary to receive recommendations from these varied stakeholder interests on how to best protect downstream resources and balance river operations.

The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 5:00 p.m., MST, on the first day and will run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., MST, the second day.
