Reclamation Releases Draft EIS for Madera Irrigation District Water Supply Enhancement Project; Public Meeting Scheduled

The Bureau of Reclamation has made available for public review and comment the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Madera Irrigation District (MID) Water Supply Enhancement Project (WSEP). The WSEP would be located on the property known as Madera Ranch, west of the City of Madera, in Madera County, California. The WSEP involves constructing and operating a water bank on the Madera Ranch property. The Proposed Action would be completed in two phases. Phase 1 would only involve recharge-related facilities. Phase 2 would involve supplemental recharge facilities and facilities for recovery of banked water. The Draft EIS, prepared in compliance with National Environmental Policy Act requirements, describes the environmental impacts of the MID WSEP, and is available for public review and comment. A public meeting will be held in Madera to provide information and receive comments on the Draft EIS on: Thursday, August 27, 5-6:30 p.m., Madera Irrigation District Office, 2152 Road 28 ΒΌ The Draft EIS may be viewed at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=3128.
