For Release: July 30, 2009

The Bureau of Reclamation announces that the boat ramp and parking area at Keswick Reservoir will be closed to the public on August 7-9, 2009, due to a National Guard training exercise. The 132nd Multirole Bridge Company is resuming float bridge operations and will conduct a Float Bridge Operations Training Exercise involving repetitive launching and retrieving of deployment equipment at the Keswick boat ramp. The exercise will include approximately 50 soldiers, four bridge erection boats, five bridge bays, and 10 common bridge trucks. The parking lot will be used as a staging area.

Recreational boat operations on the Sacramento River will remain open; however, the public is asked to be vigilant and keep clear of the Keswick boat ramp and parking area during the 3-day exercise. Keswick Reservoir is located near Redding, California. The Keswick boat ramp is located off Iron Mountain Road, north of Keswick Dam.
