The Wyoming Area Office of the Bureau of Reclamation in Mills, Wyo., in partnership with Natrona County Roads, Bridges, and Parks (County), has scheduled an open house to mark the 100th anniversary of the completion of Pathfinder Dam, according to John H. Lawson, Wyoming Area Manager.

The public open house will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the Pathfinder Interpretive Center near Pathfinder Dam. Reclamation and County staff members will be on hand to answer questions and provide directions. Self-guided tours of the dam and associated interpretive trail are encouraged, and interpretive brochures will be available at the interpretive center.

The public is advised to dress appropriately. If you elect to hike the interpretive trail, please be advised that some sections of the trail are steep and rugged. Appropriate shoes and sunscreen are recommended.

The Pathfinder Interpretive Center may be accessed by taking State Highway 220 southwest from Casper. Travel 30 miles to Alcova, continue 5.8 miles west of Alcova toward Rawlins on Hwy 220, then take Natrona Co. Rd. 409 south 6.4 miles to Pathfinder Dam, and follow the signs.

For additional information, please call 307-261-5608.
