Reclamation's Mid-Pacific Region Announces Recreational Activities for 2009 at Lake Berryessa

The Bureau of Reclamation announces that the following recreation services will be available for the visiting public at Lake Berryessa, Napa County, during the 2009 recreation season:

Non-interactive orange cube spacer  Markley Cove Concession Area, managed by FX10 LLC, the closest facility to Monticello Dam, will continue to provide services to include a convenience store, food service, marina, boat and jet ski rentals, fuel and bait sales, fishing licenses, and cabin rentals. Non-interactive orange cube spacer  Steele Park Concession Area, managed by Steele Park Resort, Inc., will continue to provide services to include boat slips and launches, fuel sales, a retail store, and RV camping. Contact Steele Park at 1-800-522-2123 for more information.

Non-interactive orange cube spacer  Pleasure Cove Concession Area, managed by Pleasure Cove Marina, LLC, a Forever Resorts Property, will continue to provide services to include overnight tent and RV camping, a marina, restaurant, convenience store, and cabin and houseboat rentals. Non-interactive orange cube spacer  Oak Shores Day Use Area, owned by Reclamation, has traditionally been a day-use area only. Reclamation has converted the north end into a temporary campground with 90-100 campsites and 20 RV sites to provide improved recreational opportunities on Lake Berryessa's west shore. Campsites will offer barbeque grills and picnic tables, and sales of food and camping items will be available. Reclamation has signed an interim contract with Forever Resorts to manage the area. "We are pleased to provide as many activities at Lake Berryessa as possible for the 2009 recreation season," said Mr. Mike Finnegan, Area Manager, Central California Area Office. "Boat launching will be provided at Steele Park, Pleasure Cove, Markley Cove, and the Government-operated free boat launch at Capell Cove." Mr. Finnegan added, "Reclamation continues to work with our partners to solicit and award new long-term contracts for full operation of the lake in 2010."

Operated by Reclamation's Central California Area Office as part of the Solano Project, Lake Berryessa is visited by some 1.5 million people annually. Government-owned facilities are open and include a visitor center, water education center, Oak Shores Day Use Area, Smittle Creek, Olive Orchard, Eticuera, and a free boat launch at Capell Cove. These areas offer a variety of year-round recreational opportunities including fishing, wildlife viewing, beach activities, swimming, hiking, and picnicking.
