The Bureau of Reclamation has issued a Finding of No Significant Impact on a proposed groundwater recharge project on the San Xavier District of the Tohono O'odham Nation in Pima County, Arizona. Under the proposed project, groundwater would be recharged with water supplied by the Central Arizona Project (CAP). The CAP water will be released into two washes that cross the CAP Reach 6 Pipeline in the southeastern portion of the San Xavier District, simulating natural recharge into the aquifer.

A draft Environmental Assessment was released in March 2009. After considering public comments, Reclamation has determined that the proposed recharge project will not significantly impact the environment.

A copy of the final Environmental Assessment and FONSI can be obtained by calling Reclamation's Environmental Resource Management Division at 623-773-6251, e-mailing rkonst@usbr.gov , or by downloading the documents from the Phoenix Area Office website at http://www.usbr.gov/lc/phoenix/

Questions may be directed to Mr. John McGlothlen of Reclamation's Phoenix Area Office Environmental Resource Management Division, at (623) 773-6256.
