The Bureau of Reclamation submitted a Biological Assessment (BA) on the future operations and maintenance of the Tualatin Project to NOAA Fisheries and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Scoggins Dam and Henry Hagg Lake make up the centerpiece of the Tualatin Project which is located about 30 miles west of Portland, Ore.

The BA describes and evaluates the potential effects of the proposed action on threatened and endangered species, and Reclamation's future operation and maintenance on the Tualatin Project through the year 2020. Reclamation is in the process of evaluating the effects on endangered species for each of its project operations.

The Tualatin Project was authorized by Congress on September 20, 1966. The purpose of the Project is to supply irrigation water to agricultural lands, municipal and industrial use, enhance recreation opportunities, and for the conservation and development of fish and wildlife within the Tualatin River Valley in Oregon.

The BA is posted on Reclamation's website at: http://www.usbr.gov/pn/programs/esa/oregon/tualatin/index.html. To obtain a hard copy of the document, contact Carri Hessman at (208) 378-5276 or chessman@pn.usbr.gov.
