The Bureau of Reclamation and the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) will conduct a workshop on the Delta-Mendota Canal Recirculation Feasibility Study on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, in Modesto.

At the workshop, Project staff will discuss the analysis of data gathered to fulfill Study objectives.  These objectives are to evaluate the feasibility, benefits, and impacts of recirculating water flowing from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta through the Central Valley Project and State Water Project pumping and conveyance facilities to the San Joaquin River.

The study is required by Public Law 108-361, Title 1, Section 103, and California State Water Resources Control Board, Decision 1641.  It has been proposed as a means to provide flows to reduce salinity concentrations into the San Joaquin River.  It could also reduce reliance on New Melones Reservoir for meeting water quality and fishery flow objectives.

The workshop will be held in:

Modesto
Tuesday, April 28, 2009,
9 a.m. to Noon,
Modesto Centre Plaza
1000 L Street, Pistache Room
Modesto, CA   Map

The workshop includes presentations on different recirculation alternatives that are analyzed and their various effects.  Also, the workshop will give participants the opportunity to talk with Project staff and provide comments on the Study.  For additional information on the project, please contact Mr. Rick Patras, Reclamation Project Manager, at 916-978-5129 or e-mail rpatras@mp.usbr.gov.  You may also contact Mr. Jacob McQuirk, DWR Project Manager, at 916-653-9883, or e-mail jacobmc@water.ca.gov.
