Reclamation Announces Customer Appreciation Day at New Melones Lake on Saturday, April 25, 2009

The Bureau of Reclamation's staff at New Melones Lake will celebrate the first annual Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday, April 25, 2009, to show appreciation for valued customers and their continued support. The $6 day-use fee will be waived for all visitors.

This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the dedication of New Melones Dam. In honor of the anniversary, staff will open the road to the New Melones Dam Overlook from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for this day only. A Park Ranger will be on hand to answer questions and to relate the history of the dam and its construction.

Directions to the New Melones Dam Overlook: Take State Highway 49 south out of Jamestown, and travel approximately 15 miles to the stoplight. Turn right on OByrnes Ferry Road, then turn right again on Peoria Flat Road. Follow Peoria Flat Road to the Cal-Fire Baseline Conservation Camp, then turn right and follow the signs to the overlook.

For more information or directions, please call the New Melones Visitor Center and Museum at 209-536-9543. The facility is located at 6850 Studhorse Flat Road off of Highway 49, just south of the Stevenot Bridge. It is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
