Reclamation Makes Draft EA/FONSI Available for Vegetation and Sediment Removal at Little Panoche Detention Dam

The Bureau of Reclamation has released a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed implementation of a 10-year program to remove accumulated vegetation and sediment at the Little Panoche Detention Dam.
The proposed action would improve water flow downstream from the dams concrete spillway, and improve the ability to monitor flood releases and drainage from seep holes within the dam. Without managing the vegetation and sedimentation in Little Panoche Creek, the San Luis Canal and surrounding areas would be subject to damage and flooding.
The Draft EA and Draft FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, and are available for public review and comment.
