Draft EA/FONSI Available for the Approval of 1-Year Temporary Warren Act Contracts to Convey Water in the Delta-Mendota Canal

The Bureau of Reclamation has released a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the approval of 1-year temporary Warren Act contracts for the conveyance of non-Central Valley Project (CVP) water in the Delta-Mendota Canal for water year 2009; the documents are available for public review and comment.

The San Luis and Delta-Mendota Water Authority, on behalf of its member agencies, has requested approval of 1-year Warren Act contracts for contract water year 2009 (March 1, 2009 through February 28, 2010). Warren Act contracts allow for the storage and conveyance of non-CVP water in Reclamation-owned facilities for irrigation purposes when excess capacity exists in CVP facilities.

The Draft EA and FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, and are available for public review and comment.
