The Bureau of Reclamation has prepared a draft Environmental Assessment for the proposed Klum Landing Campground Improvement Project at Howard Prairie Reservoir about 15 miles east of Ashland, Ore.

The draft EA evaluates a proposed alternative and a no action alternative for the campground in cooperation with Jackson County Parks. The preferred alternative includes campground improvements such as widening and realigning the roadway; modernizing campsites with paved parking spaces; providing water and electricity hookups at some of the sites; and upgrading facilities and additional campsites that are accessible to people with disabilities.

Reclamation administers the Howard Prairie Reservoir and various sections of adjacent land. A portion of the campground also resides on Oregon & California Railroad property that is under the management jurisdiction of the Bureau of Land Management.

The draft EA is available for review and comment. It can be viewed and downloaded on Reclamation's Pacific Northwest Region website at www.usbr.gov/pn/programs/ea/oregon/klum/index.html.

A hard copy is also available for review at the libraries listed below: Jackson County, Ashland Branch Library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland OR 97520.
