For Release: November 18, 2008

The Bureau of Reclamation in partnership with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers is allowing an additional 30 days for the public to provide comments on significant issues and potential alternatives associated with proposed modifications of the Intake Diversion Dam at Intake, Mont. The agencies are charged with improving fish passage in the lower Yellowstone River and reducing entrapment of endangered pallid sturgeon and other native fish in the irrigation canal system.

Reclamation and the Corps originally intended to accept comments through Nov. 14, but the agencies are extending the public comment period until Dec. 15, 2008 in response to requests from the public. In addition to this extended comment period for the public scoping process, there will be other opportunities to comment during preparation of an environmental impact statement for the proposed federal action.
