The Bureau of Reclamation has released a draft Agreement for approval of a partial assignment where Ivanhoe Irrigation District (IID), a long-term Central Valley Project (Project) water service contractor in the Friant Division, will assign 1,200 acre-feet of Class 1 water and 7,400 acre-feet of Class 2 water supplies per year to Kaweah Delta Water Conservation District (District), a non-Project contractor.  This draft Agreement is an integral part of a long-term resource exchange program between IID and the District.

Class 1 water is defined as a dependable water supply while Class 2 water is that supply of water which can be made available in addition to the supply of Class 1 water.  However, because of the uncertainty of the availability and time of occurrence for Class 2 water, such Class 2 water is undependable in character and is furnished only if, as, and when it can be made available.

The draft Agreement is needed for improving the dry year reliability of IID's surface water supplies and will incorporate the terms and conditions of the existing IID long-term renewal contract.
