The Bureau of Reclamation's New Melones Lake Recreation and Resources Branch Office is sponsoring a Trail Day event on Saturday, November 15, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., as part of Take Pride in America/National Public Lands Day.

Volunteers and Reclamation staff will work together to expand the trail system and clean up Tuttletown Recreation Area. Tasks will include leveling trails, trimming brush, building switch-backs, and litter clean-up.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Lupine Day-Use Area of Tuttletown Recreation Area at New Melones Lake. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves, and lunch will be provided to all participants.

For more information, directions, or to pre-register, please call the New Melones Lake Administration Office Visitor Center at 209-536-9094, extension 222. The office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Nationally last year, 100,000 volunteers participated in "giving back" to public lands that we all share, collecting litter, restoring recreational facilities, replanting native plant species, and replenishing sensitive habitat.
