Reclamation to Upgrade Wind Warning Lights at San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area

The Bureau of Reclamation announces the availability of the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the approval of a retrofit of four existing wind warning light systems and the installation of one new wind warning light system at San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area.
The Draft EA and FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, and are available for a 14-day public review and comment period.
The project purpose is to improve boating safety. San Luis Reservoir, a joint use facility which is part of the Federal Central Valley Project and Californias State Water Project, has been known for sudden and high winds which cause the water to become choppy and difficult for boaters to navigate. The project involves upgrading the current lights to Hali-Brite lights to enhance visibility and improve forewarning to boaters over longer distances.
