The Bureau of Reclamation has scheduled seasonal winter closures starting Wednesday, October 1, 2008, through Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Resource recovery and the performance of necessary maintenance tasks are the primary reasons for the closures.

Closures will also take place at the following locations in the Glory Hole Recreation Area: Ironhorse Campground, Osprey Point Day Use Area, Buck Brush Day Use Area, and Angels Creek Boat Launch and Fish Cleaning Station.

Beginning October 1, 2008, gate closures for both Recreation Areas will change to 10 p.m. The New Melones Visitor Center and Museum will also begin winter hours, open Wednesday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. All other locations will remain open year-round.

Road work in the Glory Hole Recreation Area resumed on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, and will continue through November 2008; please expect delays.
