For Release: August 19, 2008

The Bureau of Reclamation will increase releases to the Klamath River from Iron Gate Dam beginning at noon on Wednesday, August 20, 2008. Releases will be ramped-up from the current rate of 1,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) to approximately 1,500 cfs. The increased flows will continue through Friday, August 22, 2008, and then begin to ramp-down to the previous 1,000 cfs rate of discharge. The change is necessary to fulfill cultural commitments downriver for the Yurok Tribe. Klamath River fishermen and recreationists are cautioned to be aware of changing flow conditions during this time.
