Hungry Horse Dam Visitor Center Closes for Season

The Bureau of Reclamation is announcing its preparation for the end of the summer tourist season at the Hungry Horse Dam Visitor Center, according to Facility Manager, Dennis Philmon.

The Visitor Center will close for the season on August 24, but until that time, it will remain open 7 days a week from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Hungry Horse Dam is located off Highway 2 in Hungry Horse, Montana. Turn right at the Hungry Horse/Glacier View Forest Service building and travel about 4 ½ miles to the visitor center located at the north end of the dam's crest.

Parking is allowed only in designated areas and not on top of the dam roadway. For additional information call (406) 387-5241.

Hungry Horse Dam was completed in 1953 and stands 564 feet tall. It is located on the south fork of the Flathead River about 15 miles from the west entrance to Glacier National Park.
