U.S. Highway 93 across Hoover Dam will be intermittently closed to traffic the night of Thursday, Oct. 21, for road repairs.

The road closures will begin at 7 p.m. (Pacific Daylight Saving Time) on Oct. 21, and continue until approximately 4 a.m. (PDST) on Friday, Oct. 22. Traffic from southern Nevada will be stopped at the Nevada security checkpoint, located on U.S. Highway 93/95 about one mile north of the dam. Vehicles traveling from Arizona will be stopped near the spillway on the Arizona side of the dam. Delays will occur in increments of up to one hour. When the work is completed, normal traffic flow will resume.

As traffic is allowed to proceed, motorists are reminded to drive cautiously and anticipate the presence of extra maintenance personnel and lighting equipment on the dam.

To avoid the dam during this period, motorists may wish to use an alternate route. One potential alternative is to travel south on U.S. Highway 95 toward the Laughlin, Nev./Bullhead City, Ariz., area, or travel west on Arizona State Route 68, which intersects Interstate 40 near the junction of the Interstate and U.S. Highway 93 northwest of Kingman, to the Laughlin/Bullhead City area.
