The Bureau of Reclamation and Estes Valley Recreation and Park District will release the Lake Estes, Marys Lake, East Portal, and Common Point Draft Resource Management Plan and Environmental Assessment (Draft RMP/EA) on June 9, 2008 for public comment. Comments should be provided in writing by June 23, 2008. The Draft RMP/EA will be available for review on the project webpage at www.estesvalleyrecreation.com/RMP.htm. A printed copy will be available at the Estes Park Public Library reference desk (335 E Elkhorn Ave., Estes Park, CO).

The RMP was designed to provide formal program and policy guidelines for the next 10 years, enabling the orderly use, development, enhancement, and management of Reclamations Federal properties in Estes Park. The EA evaluates the environmental impacts of the proposed actions within the alternatives described in the RMP.

Lake Estes, Marys Lake, East Portal, and Common Point are part of the Colorado-Big Thompson water project owned by Reclamation. Estes Valley Recreation and Park District manages recreation for Reclamation at all four properties.
