Road Closure of K-258 at Webster Dam for Bridge Maintenance Work

The Bureau of Reclamation recently awarded a $223,805 contract to Wildcat Construction Company, Inc., of Topeka, Kansas for routine bridge maintenance work on the spillway at Webster Dam. The work is scheduled to begin August 1st and the bridge (K-258 highway across the dam) will be closed from August 1st through the end of September. A gravel road detour will be available for local traffic. Truck traffic is encouraged to use Kansas Highways 18 and 183 as alternate routes.

Webster Dam, located 8 miles west of Stockton, Kansas, is the principal feature of the Webster Unit which provides flood control for areas downstream of the dam, irrigation water to 8,500 irrigable acres, fish and wildlife conservation enhancement, and recreational opportunities.
