For Release: July 28, 2008

The Bureau of Reclamation has republished the proposed revision to 43 CFR Part 429, the rule that addresses issues relating to possession, occupancy, or removal of resources on Reclamation property. The proposed revisions may be viewed in the Federal Register at http://www.usbr.gov/newsroom/docs/PDF429.pdf.

The proposed revision was first published on July 18, 2007, for 90-days. Based upon comments that were received during that time period, Reclamation revised the rule and is republishing it and will accept comments for 60 days from the date the revisions were printed in the Federal Register on July 18, 2008.

On Tuesday, August 5, Reclamation will host an informational meeting about the rule in Boulder City, Nevada. The meeting, which will be held in the Mead Building at 2051 Buchanan, will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will conclude by 4:00 p.m. The meeting will provide information on the proposed revised rule and answer questions related to the proposed revised rule.

The revisions to the rule were needed to incorporate current Federal mandates concerning the use of Federal land and cost recovery and to meet present Federal regulation standards.
