Technical Work Group to Meet on Colorado River Topics

Salt Lake City, UT - The Technical Work Group of the Adaptive Management Work Group will meet July 16 - 17, 2008, in Phoenix, Ariz., to address topics related to the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program (GCDAMP) and the Colorado River.

Technical Work Group meetings are held to discuss technical matters and facilitate recommendations for use by the Adaptive Management Work Group, a Federal Advisory Committee to the Secretary of the Interior on subjects related to the operation of Glen Canyon Dam and management of downstream resources in Glen and Grand Canyons.

Noteworthy agenda items at the meeting will include: FY 09 budget and work plan; Near Shore Ecology/Fall Steady Flow Update; General Core Monitoring Plan for the GCDAMP; AMP Progression and potential transition from experiments to management actions. The meeting is open to the public.

The Technical Work Group is a sub-committee of the Adaptive Management Work Group and is comprised of technical representatives who represent members of the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program. Responsibilities of the Technical Work Group include the development of criteria and standards for monitoring and research programs; provide periodic reviews and updates; and provide information, as necessary, to the Adaptive Management Work Group.

The meeting will be held at the offices of the Arizona Department of Water Resources which is located at 3550 N. Central Avenue in the Verde Conference Room, 2nd Floor, in Phoenix, AZ. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 5:00 p.m., PST, on Wednesday, July 16, and will run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., PST, on Thursday, July 17, 2008.
