Media Contact: Pete Lucero, 916-978-5100, plucero@mp.usbr.gov

For Release: June 03, 2008

The Bureau of Reclamation will hold a second negotiation session with representatives from Ivanhoe Irrigation District (IID) on Monday, June 9, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Reclamation's South-Central California Area Office in Fresno, California, to continue negotiating terms and conditions of a partial contract assignment to the Kaweah Delta Water Conservation District (District).

The partial assignment will consist of 1,200 acre-feet of Class 1 water and 7,400 acre-feet of Class 2 water supplies per year from IID's Central Valley Project long-term water service contract. Class 1 contracts, which are based on a firm water supply, are generally assigned to municipal and industrial and agricultural water users who have limited access to good quality ground water. Class 2 water is a supplemental supply and is delivered directly for agricultural use or for ground-water recharge, generally in areas that have good quality ground-water supplies for use during surface water deficiencies.

This contract assignment is an integral part of a long-term resource exchange program between IID and the District to improve the dry year reliability of IID's surface water supplies and will incorporate the terms and conditions of the existing IID long-term renewal contract.

For additional information regarding meeting logistics or to receive a copy of the proposed assignment agreement, please contact Ms. Barbara Hidleburg, Contract Repayment Specialist, at 559-487-5063, TDD 559-487-5933, fax 559-487-5397, or e-mail bhidleburg@mp.usbr.gov.
