For Release: May 20, 2008

The Bureau of Reclamation submitted two secondary use water right permit applications to the Washington State Department of Ecology as part of the Columbia River Water Management Program.

The applications, submitted on May 20, will come from Reclamation's Columbia Basin Project storage rights in Franklin D. Roosevelt Lake which is impounded by Grand Coulee Dam.

The first application would provide 30,000 acre feet of water annually for the irrigation of 10,000 acres in the Odessa Subarea within the boundary of the Columbia Basin Project and 15,000 acre feet annually for instream flow.

The second application would provide for 37,500 acre feet of water annually for instream flow. Of that amount, 25,000 acre feet would be used by Ecology as water supply for municipalities and industries to be identified by Ecology.
