On Thursday, May 8, 9 to 11-year-old children from around Pueblo will be celebrating water in what has become a spring ritual: DWIP-Discovering Water in Pueblo, a water festival.

DWIP will be held at the Colorado State University, Pueblo campus from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. More than 1700 students from the Pueblo City Schools, District 70, and area private and charter schools will attend.

The festival, a popular medium for interactive education in water conservation, teaches the water cycle, ground water, non-point-source pollution, irrigation, water sources and uses and other important water related topics. Water professionals come from up and down the Front Range to teach children why water is important and what it means to Colorado.

Every year Reclamation, the Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District, Board of Water Works, Pueblo, St. Charles Mesa Water Association, Pueblo West Metropolitan District, and Colorado State University, Pueblo, come together to make DWIP a reality.

All media are invited to attend the event. If you would like more information, please contact Kara Lamb at the Bureau of Reclamation in Loveland: 970/962-4326; or by e-mail: klamb@gp.usbr.gov.
