The Bureau of Reclamation is taking reservations for gazebos and shelter facilities at five parks near Black Canyon Dam. Reservations will be taken from May 5- September 2, 2008. The parks are located near the Payette River, adjacent to State Highway 52 about 5 miles northeast of Emmett, Idaho.

"The weather is changing and summer will soon be here, so Reclamation wants to make sure the public has an opportunity to reserve some of our facilities as soon as possible," said Black Canyon Dam Facility Manager Robert Adams. "We invite anyone who would like to use the gazebos to reserve them in advance."

Reserving a gazebo on-line is easy; simply visit the parks' website at http://www.usbr.gov/pn/blackcanyon/index.html where instructions on how to make a reservation are published. In addition, there is a calendar that displays dates the various gazebos are available.

The four parks include:

" Black Canyon Park, which offers two gazebos that can be reserved for $125 each. There is a day use fee of $4. This year the park has two new boat docks at the boat ramp that are accessible to people with disabilities. Also, a new Gem County ordinance prohibits the use of alcohol at Black Canyon Park. " Wild Rose Park offers one gazebo that can be reserved for $125. " Cobblestone Park has a shelter that can be reserved for $125. " Triangle Park offers both day-use and group overnight camping, however, water and electricity are not supplied. The group overnight camping fee is $125.

The public is permitted to only rent the gazebos at Black Canyon and Wild Rose parks and the shelter at Cobblestone Park, regulations prohibit renting out the entire park. Montour Park, located in the Montour Wildlife Management Area, has overnight camping for $8 per campsite. There are 18 spaces available on a first-come, first-serve basis and potable water and bathrooms are available.
