Comment Period Extended for Draft EIS/EIR for the Folsom Lake SRA General Plan/RMP; Third Public Meeting Scheduled

The Bureau of Reclamation and California Department of Parks and Recreation (State Parks) have extended the public review and comment period for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report (EIS/EIR) for the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area (SRA) General Plan/Resource Management Plan (GP/RMP).  The public review period, initially scheduled to close on March 24, 2008, was extended to April 8, 2008, and has now been extended to  April 30, 2008.  The extensions respond to public requests for additional time to review and comment on the document.

An additional public meeting has been scheduled.  Two previous meetings were held in March 2008 in Granite Bay and the City of Folsom.  The third meeting will be held:

The Draft EIS/EIR evaluates approximately 20,000 acres of water and land principally owned by Reclamation and fully managed by State Parks, Gold Fields District.  The GP/RMP will provide a defined purpose, vision, long-term goals, and management guidelines to be used by Reclamation and State Parks for decision-making related to future development potential, on-going management, and public use of the Folsom Lake SRA.  The Preliminary GP/RMP will guide the management of Folsom Lake SRA and the Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park.
