Technical Work Group to Meet on Colorado River Topics

Salt Lake City, UT - The Technical Work Group of the Adaptive Management Work Group will meet April 8-9, 2008, in Phoenix, Ariz., to address topics related to the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program and the Colorado River.

Technical Work Group meetings are held to discuss technical matters and facilitate recommendations for use by the Adaptive Management Work Group, a Federal Advisory Committee to the Secretary of the Interior on subjects related to the operation of Glen Canyon Dam and management of downstream resources in Glen and Grand Canyons.

Noteworthy agenda items will include a discussion on the Science Advisors' Review of the USGS Science Plan for the recent High Flow Test on the Colorado River; a presentation of a preliminary report on the archeological excavations at the 9-mile site in Glen Canyon; discussions on the High Flow Test Biological Opinion and related conservation measures; and, an update on the Long Term Experimental Plan for the Colorado River. The meeting is open to the public.

The Technical Work Group is a sub-committee of the Adaptive Management Work Group and is comprised of technical representatives who represent members of the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program. Responsibilities of the Technical Work Group include the development of criteria and standards for monitoring and research programs; provide periodic reviews and updates; and provide information, as necessary, to the Adaptive Management Work Group.

On Tuesday, April 8, the meeting will be held at Bureau of Indian Affairs, 2 Arizona Center, 400 N. 5th St., 12th Floor Conference Room, Rooms A&B. On Wednesday, April 9, the meeting will be held at Arizona State Universitys Downtown Campus located at 50 E. Monroe Street, Building C., 3rd Floor, Room 340. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 5:00 p.m., PST, on April 8, and will run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., PST, on April 9.
