Media Contact: Jeffrey McCracken, 916-978-5100, jmccracken@mp.usbr.gov

For Release: March 06, 2008

The Bureau of Reclamation has completed a Draft Environmental Assessment (Draft EA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (Draft FONSI) for a proposed long-term transfer of up to 464 acre-feet of Central Valley Project (CVP) water per year from the Anderson-Cottonwood Irrigation District (ACID) to the Shasta Community Services District (SCSD). The Draft EA and FONSI are available for a 30-day public review and comment period. The annual transfer of up to 464 acre-feet of water would occur during the period April through October of each water year, beginning with the 2008 water year, and continuing through the 2044 water year. The transfers would be in accordance with Reclamations current water transfer guidelines. The transfer would not change CVP operations or have an appreciable effect on the cold water in Shasta Lake.

Written comments are due by close of business Thursday, April 3, 2008, to Mr. Buford Holt, Environmental Specialist, Bureau of Reclamation, 16349 Shasta Dam Boulevard, Shasta Lake, CA 96019, or bholt@mp.usbr.gov. For additional information, please contact Mr. Holt at 530-276-2047.
