For Release: February 14, 2008

The Bureau of Reclamation will reduce water releases from Parker Dam Saturday night and Sunday morning, February 16 and 17.

Beginning at 6 p.m. (Mountain Time) on February 16, releases from Parker Dam, located north of Parker, Arizona, will be reduced to approximately 5,400 cubic feet per second (cfs). This flow level is expected to continue until noon on February 17. At that time, the releases will return to an average of approximately 9,200 cfs.

The reduced water flows will result in an approximately 6-inch drop in water levels below Parker Dam during this period. Water deliveries to downstream users will not be affected by this change in operations.

The releases are required to allow the Western Area Power Administration to conduct a test on Parker Dam powerplant and switchyard.

Daily and hourly information on releases from Reclamation's Colorado River dams is available on Reclamation's web site at http://www.usbr.gov/lc/riverops.html or, for more information on river operations, contact Reclamation's Water Control Center at: waterops@lc.usbr.gov or phone: 702-293-8373.
