Media Contact: Jeffrey McCracken, 916-978-5100, jmccracken@mp.usbr.gov

For Release: November 06, 2007

The Bureau of Reclamation is preparing a Environmental Assessment (EA) on the impacts of the demolition and removal of the Battle Mountain Community Pasture barn.  The barn is a facility of Reclamation’s Humboldt Project, which is operated and managed by the Pershing County Water Conservation District.  The removal of the barn is necessary for safety reasons since it is unusable and no longer structurally sound.

Reclamation is requesting public participation and comments on the environmental process to help identify any potential issues, concerns, and alternatives that should be addressed in the EA.

Written comments on the demolition and removal of the Battle Mountain Community Pasture Barn must be received by close of business Tuesday, November 20, 2007, and should be sent to Ms. Rinda E. Tisdale-Hein, Bureau of Reclamation, Technical Service Center, Fisheries and Wildlife Resources Group, P.O. Box 25007 (86-68290), Denver, Colorado  80225-0007, faxed to 303-445-6328, or e-mailed to rtisdale@do.usbr.gov.  For additional information, please call Ms. Tisdale-Hein at 303-445-2241
