Reclamation Schedules Additional Public Meeting for Madera Irrigation District Water Supply Enhancement Project

The Bureau of Reclamation held a public scoping meeting on Monday, October 22, 2007, to begin the process of preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Madera Irrigation District (MID) Water Supply Enhancement Project (Project) in Madera, California. Due to comments and interest generated by the first meeting, Reclamation has scheduled an additional public scoping meeting for the proposed Project. The meeting will take place on Monday, October 29, 2007, at 6:30 p.m. at the MID Office, 12152 Road 28ΒΌ, Madera, CA to seek public input on topics, issues, and alternatives to be considered in the EIS.
MID proposes to construct a ground-water bank on the property known as the Madera Ranch, west of the City of Madera, Madera County. The Federal actions include approval from Reclamation for MID to bank a portion of their Central Valley Project Friant Division contract water supply outside of its service area in a ground-water bank at Madera Ranch and approval to extend the Reclamation-owned 24.2 Canal.
