It's been 10 years since the grand opening of the Centennial Job Corps Center in Nampa, Idaho.

The Center will host an open house to the public on Wednesday, October 31, in recognition of the anniversary.

"For over a decade, Centennial has been a vital part of the community. Job Corps students have helped build or maintain many local projects. We would like to invite the public to come down, tour our facility and learn how Job Corps can work with you and how those in the community can help our students," said Center Director Michele Woods.

Centennial Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center is the only training facility of its kind in Idaho. In 1997, the campus vacated a site in Marsing, Idaho and opened doors at the 20-acre facility in Nampa. In 2005, this Job Corp facility was ranked second in the nation for its efficiency and the quality of its graduates.

Working on local construction projects and with local businesses is a critical source of occupational training for the Job Corps students, Woods said. Construction trade students have worked at many sites including the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, Girl Scout camp cabins, Middleton Schools, Habitat for Humanity homes, and many others.

The 10th Anniversary schedule includes:

" 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Guided tours of the campus " 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Buffet lunch for visitors and friends " 1:00 p.m. Assembly and Proclamation by Nampa Mayor, Tom Dale

The Centennial Job Corps Center is home to more than 300 students. They are provided social skills training, educational training if needed and vocational training in a variety of trades including: Culinary Arts, Health Occupations, Carpentry, General Construction, Painting, Accounting Clerk, Business Clerical, Computer Services, Electrician, Plastering, and Welding.

The Centennial Job Corps Center is located at 3201 Ridgecrest Drive, Nampa, Idaho.
