Reclamation's Upper Colorado Region Announces Selection of Assistant Regional Directors Gold and Rhees

The Bureau of Reclamation's Upper Colorado Regional Director Larry Walkoviak today announced the composition of the region's new management team with the selection of Ann Gold and Brent Rhees to serve as Assistant Regional Directors and the re-assignment of current Assistant Regional Director Dave Sabo, to serve as the region's Deputy Regional Director. Ms. Gold currently serves as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Administration, and Budget and Mr. Rhees currently serves as the Deputy Area Manager for the region's Provo Area Office.

"I am both pleased and excited to announce the addition of these exceptional people to the Upper Colorado Region management team," said Walkoviak. "These individuals possess the strong management background and leadership abilities that will make us successful in dealing with the many complex issues facing this region. The Upper Colorado Region will greatly benefit from their insight and expertise and I look forward to working with them."

Gold has 30 years of federal service which began with Soil Conservation Service (now Natural Resource Conservation Service), Forest Service, and Bureau of Land Management before joining Reclamation's Upper Colorado Region in 1983. Gold has served in her current capacity as Special Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner since 2002 during which time she has been instrumental in managing many significant programs and initiatives. Prior to serving in this position, Gold was the Upper Colorado Region Human Resource Officer from 1997 to 2002. Additionally, Gold served as Reclamation's Human Resources Officer for approximately 10 months in 2005-2006.

Gold holds a bachelor's degree in business management and a master's degree in human resources management from the University of Utah. She has completed Reclamation's Leadership Development Program and is currently in the Department of the Interior's (DOI) Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program. Gold has also received the DOI's Superior Service Award.

Rhees has 27 years of federal service which began with Reclamation's Denver Office as a rotation engineer in 1980. Rhees joined the Upper Colorado Regional Office in 1981 where he served in several positions including the Engineering Services Office Supervisor and as Construction Liaison. Since March 1993, Rhees has served in the Provo Area Office in several key management positions including three division manager positions, as Program Manager for the Bonneville Unit Pilot Management Program, and as the Deputy Area Manager since June 2004.

Rhees holds a bachelor's degree in civil and environmental engineering from Utah State University. Rhees is also a recipient of the DOI's Superior Service Award in recognition of his significant contributions and leadership in Western water issues.

Dave Sabo has served as the region's Assistant Regional Director since April 2006.
