The Wyoming Area Office of the Bureau of Reclamation in Mills, Wyoming, is reducing the rate of release of water from Gray Reef Dam resulting in lower flows in the North Platte River below Gray Reef Dam, according to John H. Lawson, Wyoming Area Manager. Because of the drought and the limited water supply available, the reduction in flow is required to conserve water in the reservoirs of the North Platte Basin.
On September 8, the release of water from Gray Reef Dam will be decreased from 1,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) to a flow of approximately 500 cfs. Boaters, recreationists, and irrigators should take proper precautions regarding changing river flows between Gray Reef and Glendo Reservoirs.
