The Bureau of Reclamation awarded a $3.9 million contract for janitorial and maintenance services at Grand Coulee Dam to Quest Services & Technologies, Inc., of Boise, Idaho.

The contract, which was awarded on August 23, calls for janitorial and maintenance services of several buildings and facilities at the Grand Coulee Project in north-central Wash. The total contract amount would be awarded over a 5-year period, assuming satisfactory performance each year. The work requires detailed attention to janitorial services to office buildings, tourist facilities, and various locations within the powerplants, switchyards, and elevator towers.

"Grand Coulee Dam is a major tourist attraction that requires maintenance services that will be held to very high standards," said Commissioner Bob Johnson. "Reclamation has an obligation to its employees and the public to ensure that all public areas and work areas are functioning in a clean and efficient manner."

Grand Coulee Dam was completed in 1942 and today serves as a multipurpose facility providing water for irrigation, recreation, fish and wildlife, hydroelectric power production, and flood control.
