Hungry Horse Dam Visitor Center Closes for Season

The Bureau of Reclamation is announcing new hours of operation at its Hungry Horse Dam Visitor Center in preparation for the end of the summer tourist season, according to Facility Manager, Dennis Philmon.

The Visitor Center is open 7 days a week from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., but will close for the season at noon on August 26.

Hungry Horse dam is located off Highway 2 in Hungry Horse, Montana. Turn right up the hill past the Hungry Horse/Glacier View Forest Service building and travel approximately 4 ½ miles to the Visitor Center located at the North end of the dam's crest.

Parking is allowed only in designated areas and not on top of the dam roadway.

Hungry Horse Dam stands 564 feet tall and was completed in 1953. It is located on the south fork of the Flathead River, 15 miles south of the west entrance to Glacier National Park and 20 miles northeast of Kalispell, Montana.
