Reclamation Appoints Eastern Colorado Area Manager

The Bureau of Reclamation's Great Plains Regional Director Mike Ryan today announced the appointment of Mike Collins of Billings, Mont., to serve as manager of Reclamation's Eastern Colorado Area. The area office is located in Loveland, Colo.
Collins will be responsible for managing 20 water storage dams and seven powerplants that are part of Reclamation's Colorado-Big Thompson and Fryingpan-Arkansas projects.
Mike Ryan said, "I am pleased to have someone with Mike's extensive management background as area manager in Loveland where he will oversee facilities that provide critical water and power resources to the Front Range and beyond."
Collins has been manager of the Resource Services Group in the Great Plains Regional Office in Billings since September 2004. Prior to that he was deputy area manager for the Yuma Area Office in Yuma, Ariz. He started his career with Reclamation in 1978, working for the Division of Atmospheric Research in Denver. He provided electronic support for extended field research programs in Miles City, Mont.; Auburn, Calif.; Big Spring, Texas; and Montrose, Colo., and helped launch a demonstration program in Morocco. He moved to Yuma in 1988 to help start Reclamation's Yuma Desalting Plant. While in Yuma, he managed the area office electrical/electronic maintenance programs, computer program, and resource programs.
Collins replaces Fred Ore who became Special Assistant Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Administration and Budget for Reclamation.
