Boat Removal to Begin at Folsom Lake Due to Dry-Year Reservoir Conditions

Media Contact: Jeffrey McCracken, 916-978-5100, jmccracken@mp.usbr.gov

For Release: July 23, 2007

Browns Ravine Marina at Folsom Reservoir has announced that boats will have to be removed from the lake by August 1, 2007, when the lake will be at elevation 412 feet.

Releases to the American River are being made to meet downstream requirements and are lowering the lake level by about ½ foot per day.  The 2007 water year is one of the driest on record, and though Folsom Lake levels have been better than expected, it is forecasted that the lake will continue to be lowered at a rate of ½ foot per-day throughout the rest of the summer.

Please note that Hobie Cove ramp will remain open for the rest of the summer for boaters wishing to use the lake during the day.  The fuel dock is expected to be in operation until mid-August.

Please contact Mr. Paul Fujitani at 916-979-2197, or visit Reclamations Mid-Pacific Region website at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/, for information on the latest Folsom Lake operations.  For information on ramp availability, please visit the Folsom Lake Marina website at http://www.folsomlakemarina.com/Ramps.html.
