After a very hot weekend, runoff and releases from upstream reservoirs have created high inflows into Green Mountain Reservoir. Reclamation's Eastern Colorado Area Manager Fred Ore said today he expects to increase Green Mountain releases from the current 1800 cfs to approximately 2,700 cfs early this week. The flood stage for the lower Blue River is rated at 2,600 cfs by the National Weather Service and the public is advised that there are high flows on the Blue River at this time.

Releases of similar magnitude were last seen in 1997, when a flow of more than 3,200 cfs was released, and also in 1995, when more than 4,000 cfs was released. As with the current situation, releases were increased in order to pass high inflows from Green Mountain Reservoir.

Reclamation anticipates the current level of releases to continue through the week or until inflows decrease.
