The Bureau of Reclamation announces the release of the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Reconstruction of Union Island Salinity Monitoring Station.  Reclamation proposes to repair the station by replacing the entire structure with better-quality materials to withstand deterioration.  A private construction team, hired by Reclamation, would demolish the current station and rebuild a new station.  The project is located at the intersection of Middle River and Old River, Union Island Quadrangle, San Joaquin County.

The Draft EA and FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available for a 15-day public review and comment period.  The documents are available on Reclamations website at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=2748.  The Final EA will address comments received during the comment period.  If you encounter problems accessing the documents online, please contact Ms. Lynnette Wirth at 916-978-5102 or lwirth@mp.usbr.gov.
